Send your dashboard by email on a schedule, with an AI summary

The numbers only help if people see them. Schedule a canvas and it arrives in your team's inbox every Monday morning, or on the first of the month, with a short summary of what matters.

Key takeaways

  • Choose Scheduled reports… from a canvas's export menu to email it every day, every week or every month, at a time you pick in your own timezone.
  • Each email opens with a short AI-written summary, then every chart as a small table and the whole canvas as a PDF, worked out afresh for each send.
  • Preview a report to yourself first, and pause, change or remove any schedule from the canvas or the Scheduled reports page.
  • Scheduling is included in Team and Enterprise and in the free Team trial. On every plan, anyone can email a canvas to themselves.

The dashboard nobody opens

You built a canvas that answers the questions your team keeps asking: weekly revenue, the top products, how the campaigns are doing. Then Monday comes, and someone still asks for the numbers in a message, because opening another tool is one step too many. So you take screenshots, paste them into an email and write a few lines about what changed. Every week.

Scheduled email reports do that for you. Choose a canvas, say who should get it and when, and DashboardGPT sends it on time, with a summary written for people who only have a minute.

New to building canvases? Chat with your data: the complete guide shows how to ask questions and collect the answers on a canvas.

What lands in the inbox

  • A short summary first. Three to six plain sentences that lead with the most important number or change, name the chart it comes from and point out anything worth acting on. It only uses the numbers on your canvas.
  • Every chart as a small table, so the figures can be read straight from the email, on any device.
  • The whole canvas as a PDF, laid out the way you arranged it, ready to forward or file.
  • Your notes. Text you have written on the canvas comes along, so the context travels with the numbers.
  • A link back to the canvas for anyone who wants to dig deeper.

Every chart is worked out again when the report is sent, so readers always get the latest figures from your data. You choose the layout of the email: the summary and tables with the PDF attached, the summary with the PDF attached, or the summary and tables only. The AI summary can be switched off too.

Schedule a canvas, step by step

  1. Open the canvas you want to share and choose Scheduled reports… from its export menu.
  2. Give the report a name. It starts as the canvas's name.
  3. Choose how often it goes out: every day, every week on a weekday you pick, or every month on a day from the 1st to the 28th.
  4. Set the time and timezone. A Monday 08:00 report arrives at 08:00 on Monday in that timezone, all year round.
  5. Add recipients, one address per line, or add workspace members with a click. A report can go to up to 50 addresses.
  6. Pick the email layout, keep or switch off the AI-written summary, and choose Schedule report.
  7. Send yourself a preview to see exactly what your readers will get.

Don't have a canvas yet? Turn a spreadsheet into a canvas of charts in one step shows how to get one from a file, a Google Sheet, or a Google Analytics or Search Console report in a couple of clicks.

Keep every schedule in view

Scheduled reports in the sidebar lists every schedule in the workspace, across all its canvases, with the next send first. Each one shows its cadence, its recipients, when it goes out next and how the last send went.

  • Pause and resume a report with one switch, for example over a holiday, and filter the list to show the ones that are on or paused.
  • Preview, change or remove any schedule, or download the PDF from its last send.
  • Clear roles. Workspace editors set up and manage schedules. Everyone else in the workspace can see what is scheduled.

Email a canvas to yourself

Sometimes you just want the canvas in your inbox now: to read on the train, or to forward to someone outside the tool. Choose Email me this canvas from the export menu, and it arrives with its summary, its tables and a PDF. It works for everyone in the workspace, on every plan.

Which plans include it

  • Explore: email a canvas to yourself three times a month. You can fill in a schedule to see how it works, and the Save button shows which plan includes it.
  • Team: scheduled reports with the AI summary and the PDF, up to 10 schedules in each workspace.
  • Enterprise: unlimited schedules.
  • Free Team trial: scheduled reports are included, so you can watch the first one arrive before you decide.

Ready to stop sending screenshots? Sign up and schedule your first canvas, compare what each plan includes on the pricing page, or contact us if you would like help setting up reports for your team.
