Key takeaways

  • DashboardGPT runs in our cloud, on your own servers, or fully offline with no internet connection at all. It is the same product in each case.
  • Use your own AI provider account or a model you run yourself. Either way, your data, questions and answers stay under your control.
  • Four simple roles and a built-in audit log make access easy to manage and easy to explain to your security team.
  • Self-hosted plans are annual licenses with updates, support and a guided setup included. See the on-premise pricing page for starting prices.

Some teams can't send their data to someone else's cloud, and some simply prefer not to. DashboardGPT gives them the same experience everyone else gets: ask a question in plain English, get a chart you can trust, and build dashboards your whole team can use. The difference is that it all happens inside your own network. This checklist walks through the decisions most teams make while evaluating it. For the wider case for keeping AI under your own control, start with the bring-your-own-key guide.

Decide where it runs

Pick the option that fits your security rules and your team. You can start small and move up later. The full picture is on the on-premise overview.

OptionWhat you getBest for
Our cloudSign up and start asking questions in minutes. Nothing to install or maintain. Most teams, and anyone who wants to try it first
Your own serversDashboardGPT runs in your data centre or your private cloud, on a single server or your Kubernetes cluster.Departments, regulated teams and company-wide rollouts
Fully offlineRuns with no internet connection at all, with the AI on your own hardware.Government, defence, banking and healthcare
  • Agree which option meets your security and compliance needs.
  • Share the system requirements with your IT team so they know what to prepare.
  • Decide who will install it. Your own team can follow the documentation, and every license includes a guided setup session with us.

Choose your AI

DashboardGPT doesn't lock you into one AI vendor. Pick the approach that fits your policies and budget, and change your mind later if you need to.

  • Bring your own key. Connect the OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or Google Gemini account you already have. You pay your provider directly, with no markup from us, and no special hardware is needed.
  • Run your own model. Use an open model on your own hardware with tools such as Ollama, vLLM or LM Studio. Nothing leaves your network and there are no per-question fees. See using local models with DashboardGPT.

Answer quality depends on the model you pick, so try a few of your real business questions before you commit. We'll help you choose during your setup call.

Plan who gets access

Access is built around four clear roles: owner, admin, member and viewer. Because everyone has one of four well-understood roles, access reviews are quick and there are no surprises.

  • Name your owners and admins. They invite people and decide who can do what.
  • Invite everyone else as a member, who can explore and build, or a viewer, who can read dashboards.
  • Connect your company sign-in if you use single sign-on, so there are no extra passwords to manage.
  • On the Business and Enterprise Air-Gapped plans, limit which rows of data each person can see, so everyone only gets answers from the data they are allowed to see.

Keep a clear record

The built-in audit log shows who did what and when. Owners and admins see the whole team's activity and can filter it by person, event and date. Members and viewers see their own history. On the Business and Enterprise Air-Gapped plans you can also send the audit log to your security monitoring tools.

Whichever option you choose, your data, questions and answers stay inside your network. The fully offline option makes no outside connections at all.

Budget for it

Self-hosted plans are annual licenses that include product updates, support and a guided setup. These are starting prices; your quote depends on the number of users and environments.

PlanStarting priceHighlights
Self-Hosted TeamFrom $9,000 per year, minimum 20 usersUp to 50 users, single sign-on, roles and permissions, in-app audit log
Self-Hosted BusinessFrom $24,000 per yearCompany-wide scale, company directory sign-in, row-level data access, audit log export, production and staging licenses
Enterprise Air-GappedCustom quote, typically from $50,000 per yearFully offline, help choosing and setting up your own AI model, custom terms and SLA

AI costs are separate and fully in your hands: with your own key you pay your provider directly, and with your own model you pay only for your hardware. Compare the plans in full on the on-premise pricing page, or see the cloud plans if you'd rather not run anything yourself.

Your evaluation checklist

  • Where it runs: our cloud, your servers or fully offline.
  • Which AI: your own provider account or your own model.
  • Who installs it, and when your guided setup session is booked.
  • Owners and admins named, and everyone else's role agreed.
  • Company sign-in connected, if you use one.
  • Someone named to review the audit log.
  • A few real business questions ready to test answer quality.
  • Rough numbers for your quote: users, environments and data sources. Then talk to us.

Frequently asked questions

Only if you want to run the AI model yourself. With your own provider key, DashboardGPT runs on ordinary servers. The full requirements are on our system requirements page.

Yes. The Enterprise Air-Gapped option runs fully offline, with the AI on your own hardware, and makes no outside connections.

No. When you self-host, your data, questions and answers stay on your infrastructure. If you use your own AI provider key, questions go only to the provider you chose.

Most teams are running a pilot within two weeks of the first call, after a short scoping call, a trial license and a guided setup.

Yes. After a short scoping call you get a time-limited trial license to install and test on your own servers. You can also try the cloud version straight away in the playground.

Ask your data a question.

Open the playground and ask about revenue, churn or campaign spend. Charts, metrics and written insights appear on an infinite canvas.
