Your organisation role matters too. Owners and admins act as owners in every workspace and can configure AI providers, see usage and manage billing. Members can create workspaces and run AI. Organisation viewers have read access.
Organisation roles are predefined: owner, admin, member and viewer. Their permissions are fixed and custom roles cannot be created, so a role means the same thing in every organisation. Settings → Members → Roles & permissions lists exactly what each role may do.
Actions you cannot perform are hidden or disabled, and the server always re-checks permissions.
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Viewer | See everything in the workspace, expand and refresh charts, export canvases as PDF and email them to themselves. Read-only: cannot ask the assistant, upload or edit. |
| Editor | Everything a viewer can, plus upload and delete datasets, edit the semantic model, charts, filters and canvases, ask the assistant, schedule reports, publish canvases to Superset, and rename the workspace. |
| Owner | Everything an editor can, plus delete the workspace and manage its members. |
